Experiencing God...an update

We have been in a series this summer called ONE--Living as one with the one true God. In it we are seeking live lives united to God where we are so united to God we, like Jesus, only do what we see the Father doing (John 5.19-20). Here are some challenges to keep us focused:

  • Remember: God is always at work around us. Keep your eyes open to His work.
  • Remember: We can do nothing without God.
  • Remember: God is inviting us to join Him in His work in the world.
  • Remember: God doesn't need us to dream up a work for Him to bless. We are called to be a part of His vision.
  • Remember: Our hearing the voice of God is intimately tied to our relationship with God. The deeper the relationship, the more we experience life in God.

These teachings are deepening my relationship with God. I hope you are experiencing the same. God is calling us all to trust Him more.

I should also mention I am indebted to Henry Blackaby and Claude V. King's  book Experiencing God for this series. It's an amazing book.  I hope you will pick up a copy.

WHAT IF YOU COULD HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD?
God is taking Sanctuary deeper into our knowledge of Him. He longs to speak to us, but what kind of ears do we need to hear? Join us Sunday night as explore ONE VOICE: HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD.

BAPTISM PICNIC SUNDAY AFTERNOON
This Sunday afternoon, CrossRoads will gather as one big family of God to celebrate the baptisms of new members of our family.  We have space reserved all day at Bayport Lakeside Park on the St. Croix River.  You may show up anytime to enjoy the park and beach.  Lunch is at 1:00 PM and will be done in time for everyone to attend the Believers' Baptism at 2:30 PM.  PLEASE BRING 2 dishes to pass per family, beverages and lawn chairs or a picnic blanket.  Some picnic tables are available.  Plate s and utensils will be provided. DIRECTIONS: East on I-94; North on MN 95 into Bayport; Turn right on  Center Avenue, 1 block to the park

True Heroes Needed
True heroes are those who work with our kids in our Crosswalk Ministry!  The YES they say to volunteering changes them and changes the life of a child.  Here's my bold ask:  Will you say YES to volunteering for the rest of the summer?  Our regular crew needs a break between now and fall.  There are dozens of opportunities, something for everyone.

Will you be a true hero?  Email us at kidscrosswalk@qwest.net and we'll find a place for you to make a difference in a child's life.

The Sanctuary 411

SUNDAY NIGHT: ONE INVITATION
Imagine receiving an invitation in the mail. You open the envelope and the card says, “I’m restoring a broken world. You’re invited to join me in this effort. Will you join me? Love, God.” How will you respond to God invitation not just to be His child, but to join Him in His mission? Join us Sunday night as we join God in His mission for this the world.

SUNDAY’S BARBECUE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR A LATER DATE.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Sunday’s barbecue will be postponed until later in the summer.

IS SANCTUARY PART OF YOUR BUDGET YET?
We know the summer months are filled with vacations, home improvement, etc. but as you budget for your summer, please don't forget your giving to God's ministry at CrossRoads. Everything from the communion bread to the air conditioning to the staff's salaries is paid for by our church community. If you haven't yet made giving to God's work a part of your budget, remember God loves a cheerful giver! Checks can be made out to CrossRoads Church with "Sanctuary" in the memo line. If you are out of town, don't hesitate to use our online giving.

ONE CHURCH, TWO LOCATIONS
CrossRoads Church is moving forward on launching our campus in Eagan on September 28th!  In the next 2 weeks CrossRoads will hire an Eagan Campus Pastor, order new sound, audio, and media equipment, and continue to meet and connect with those at BridgePointe.

Starting in August we will begin to lead the services there.  On August 3 I will be speaking and Terry Foss will be leading worship.  Terry will continue leading most of the services in Eagan and James Brown will do the majority of the speaking there.

Ryan Lunceford will handle the bulk of worship leading at our main services at our Cottage Grove/Woodbury campus.  Jordan Lindstedt will lead worship at Sanctuary.

TRUE HEROES NEEDED
Tue heroes are those who work with our kids in our Crosswalk Ministry!  The YES they say to volunteering changes them and changes the life of a child.  Here’s my bold ask:  will you say YES to volunteering for the rest of the summer?  Our regular crew needs a break between now and fall.  There are dozens of opportunities… something for everyone.

What is God up to?

Last night we began our summer series One--Living as one with the one true God. Our main text was John 5.17, 19-20: "My Father never stops working...I assure you, the Son can do nothing by himself.  He does only what he sees of the Father doing.  What ever the Father does, the Son also does.  For the Father loves the Son and tells him everything he is doing..."

I would like you to revisit the four main points we talked about last night:

  1. God is always at work.
  2. We can do nothing apart from God.
  3. God shows us what he is doing it because he loves us.
  4. God is calling us to join him in his restoration efforts.

I believe right now God is asking all of us to be attentive to His activity in this day.  Keep your eyes open. When you see God working, join Him.

I also noted one of my resources for this series is Henry Blackaby and Claude V. King's book Experiencing God.  I would encourage everyone to get a copy.
